New minimally invasive surgical technique

Frequent urination, a hesitant, interrupted, weak stream, and discomforting urgency of leaking and dribbling, which are a nightmare for many men, result most often from a benign enlargement of the prostate (benign prostate hyperplasia – BPH). Almost every second mal after the age of 50 is affected, and consequently it is the most frequently occurring disease in men. Incase of the so-called benign prostate hyperplasia, prostate tissues grows into in the area of the urethra.

Various options for the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia are available. The type of procedure selected depends on the subjective symptom of the patient. In the initial phase, medications can be prescribed that reduce the swelling and act as a relaxing agent. Later only surgical procedures can relief the symptom. Aside from the classical prostate resection (TURP), the West German Prostate Center, offers two innovative procedures of modern laser therapy.
